BioEng'2001 Venue:
The conference will be held in the Universidade do Algarve, Campus de Gambelas, in Faro. Faro is the administrative centre of Algarve, the Southwest part of Portugal. Faro can be reached by road (from Lisbon or Spain), single-track railway line (from Lisbon), or by the International Airport of Faro, located close to the city.
Due to Portugal's relevant position in the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal has been invaded and fought over by Phoeniciens, Romans and Moors. The extensive coast-line encouraged 15th Century World exploration, leaded by Henry the Navigator, who elected Sagres (the Southwest corner of the Iberian Peninsula) as the sea adventure observation point.
Such history is presented on cultural and traditional characteristics encountered on the Algarvian landscape and ancient buildings.
An unpolluted mild climate and warm sea temperature encourage locals and visitors to enjoy over 100 sandy beaches located on the Algarvian coast.
